Bendy Guitar

Another thing I never posted before, my first experiment with time displacement, which something I was playing around with during my Masters course.

NOT THE BEES

For the theme "Worst. Movie. Ever." I couldn't think of any movies that fit into that category that I also wanted to draw, so I decided to invent a sequel to a bad yet hilarious film.

I can't lie - it was impossible not to make bee noises when drawing a swarm that large.

Karate

A print I was commissioned to design a few months ago. I never got a chance to see the printed and framed version, but I'm told it looked good.

Typographical Movie Posters

Some old college work I came across while sorting out my files. I never posted it on this blog at the time, and I still quite like the designs.

From Early 2007 I think.

Sunken

Wow, here's another find. Something I started at least three years ago and somehow forgot about. I quite like it so far. Might revisit it.

Pinkerton

While sorting out what stuff to transfer to my new computer and what stuff to just bin, I came across this guest strip I did a while ago for Mike Witner's Pinkerton Park. I don't think I ever posted it on my blog before, and I'm still quite proud of it.

No Escape

My pic for this week's Sketch Jam topic "The Game". If you don't know what "the game" is, read this.

This Little Hand

My entry for this week's Sketch Jam topic "Shakespeare", based on one of my favourite scenes.

Originally it was going to be all monotone, then a red spot colour to really punctuate the blood. A bit Sin City. But it seemed a bit flat and harsh on the eye, so at the risk of reducing the impact of the blood, I added more colour.

Li-Ning

A montage made from a series of short films by Axis Animation. I did some of the 2D animation, background elements and effects animation mostly. This included: waterfalls; foot-impact dust; blowing flags; lightning; water splashes; some clouds; waves in the water. Among other little bits and pieces. I also animated the display for the scoreboard towards the end, but that's not really anything worth bragging about. Mostly still shots in this montage anyway.

The main objective for me was to create animated elements that would fit with the stylised 3D animation and the environment (which was a mixture of 2D and 3D). Visit the Vimeo page for more information.

Yoshis, Fight!

This week's sketchjam theme was "fight". I was in a bit of a retro games mood the other day and thought "hey, there's lots of fights in computer games!" and since I so rarely do any kind of fan art I thought this would be a good opportunity. So this is inspired by one of my favourite games of all time, Yoshi's Island for the SNES. Yoshis are fun to draw. Except that yellow one, he came out looking a bit odd.

And here's a few scribbles I did in MS Paint that led up to the final. Post-it notes and MS Paint are the freest mediums for me when it comes to sketching ideas.
